A Personal Introduction I Kim Thaler

Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty recently released a series of short films that profile brokers, focusing on the story of each individual in order to tell the story of the greater company.  Known for industry innovation, Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty engaged Chicago-based branding house Evoker, Inc. to produce the films, which strip away the mass-produced structure of a standard biography video and allow the agent to tell their personal story.  There is no script.  No storyboard. No two films are ever the same.  Each week we will feature one of our agent’s films.  This week, meet Kim Thaler, Broker Associate at Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty.

Kim Thaler grew up in Lafayette Indiana and started her real estate profession there.  Her brother and sister-in-law, and father had moved to the Keys and after coming down almost every other month to visit, in 2000 she decided to move here. Her love of the water along with the amazing weather are what drew her and she finds most of her clients are drawn to the Keys for the same reasons.

Kim was the first agent to join Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty and helped open the office in Islamorada.  “I love what I do and I just really enjoy showing clients property because you’re ultimately helping them find their piece of paradise,” said Thaler.

Routinely she shows clients property by boat as it shows them a different perspective and allows them to feel like they are a part of the Keys already.

We chatted with Kim to find out more about why she loves what she does and why the Keys will be her forever home.

Q: What do you love about the Florida Keys?

Kim: Everything!  I love the gorgeous water, the weather and most of all the people. I love the lifestyle.  It’s so laid back and easy going and a refreshing way to live life.

Q: Why do you love selling real estate in the Florida Keys?

Kim: I love selling unique and beautiful homes with gorgeous views but ultimately what I’m selling isn’t just another amazing home, I’m selling the lifestyle. love working with the people that are selling their homes but also love working with buyers that have decided to make a move to the Florida Keys because they have fallen in love with our laidback way of life.

Q: What advice would you give people looking for their dream home in the Florida Keys?

Kim: It’s hard to get everything you want in a home.  Make a list of the attributes you’re hoping to find and then choose those that are most important.

Q: What’s one thing people may not know about you?

Kim: Most people don’t know that I met my husband, Mike, in the Keys.  I moved to the Keys single and restarted my real estate career here.  About a year after I moved here, I was out with friends at a bar and met my Mike. He was out with friends and one of his friends kind of hit on me but I wasn’t interested.  Then I saw Mike and that was pretty much it. We dated for about a year and a half and then got married. That was 14 years ago. Luckily, he’s a huge animal lover like me because my dog was like my child. We now have 2 Rottweilers that are the biggest babies and go everywhere with us. If we had the room I’d have dogs, cats and horses!!

Q: What makes the Florida Keys so special?

Kim: We have the most beautiful water in the United States.  We have great weather all year long and we truly do live in paradise.

Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty Launches Short Film Series Profiling Agents

Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty (Ocean SIR) released a series of short films that profile agents through micro-branding, focusing on the story of each individual in order to tell the story of the greater company. Known for industry innovation, Ocean SIR engaged Chicago-based branding house Evoker, Inc. to produce the films.

“Our firm is comprised of some of the most exceptional professionals in the real estate business.  These films provide unprecedented insight into what makes them both unique and valuable,” said Russell Post, Broker of Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty.  “Buying and selling a home is an intensely personal process, not just a business transaction.  We want to give potential clients a way to get to know our agents on a deeper level,” he said.

The studio quality films are generally less than two minutes and enable potential home buyers and sellers to “meet” the agents, learn who he or she is – their passions, expertise, market knowledge — to learn which agent is the perfect one to meet their needs. These artful films strip away the corporate umbrella and mass-produced structure of a standard biography video and allow the agent to tell their personal story. There is no script. No storyboard. No two films are ever the same.

With videos shown to increase consumer understanding of a product or service by 85-percent, Ocean Sotheby’s International Realty has been at the forefront in their industry by integrating video technology into their marketing plan for listings, so it was a natural fit to bring the concept to the associates.

According to Diode Digital, video promotion is 600% more effective than print and direct mail combined and 60% of site visitors will first watch a video before reading any text.  Forrester Research determined that one minute of video is equal to 1.8 million words of content. Not surprisingly, Sotheby’s International Realty is a leader in this medium – their YouTube channel has more subscribers than any other real estate brand.

The films will be hosted on the firm’s website at www.OceanSIR.com/Video as well as on their YouTube channel and various social media platforms.

“If we go to this length to share our personal story, imagine our effort to represent your property listing,” adds Post.
